Pinecrest had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 57-30 victory over the Pine Forest Trojans. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Trojans are ranked 229th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Pinecrest to victory were Najee Gillis and Dayton Knight. Gillis threw for 269 yards and five TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes, while Knight rushed for 98 yards and three scores. Those 269 passing yards gave Gillis a new career-high. Pinecrest's leading receiver RJ Williams was Gillis' top target yet again, picking up 86 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pinecrest was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 220 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Pinecrest's record now sits at 7-1. As for Pine Forest, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinecrest will welcome Hoke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will be up against the Bucks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Pine Forest, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Jack Britt at 7:30 p.m.
