Recap: Windham Whippets vs. Waterford Lancers
The Windham Whippets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Waterford 67-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Windham's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Green, who scored 26 points. Green continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tahj Jones, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Windham's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Waterford, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Windham will face off against Killingly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Windham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. As for Waterford, they will head out on the road to take on Stonington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stonington has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 847 points over their last 13 games.
