Basketball Game Preview: Hueneme Vikings vs. Santa Paula Cardinals

Hueneme is 2-8 against Santa Paula since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Hueneme Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Santa Paula Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hueneme is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They were dealt a 75-40 defeat at the hands of Foothill Tech. The Vikings were down 52-32 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Santa Paula was beaten by Channel Islands 81-45 on Friday. The contest marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Santa Paula's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-7. As for Hueneme, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16.

Hueneme took a serious blow against Santa Paula when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 72-31. Can Hueneme avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
