Baseball Recap: Jay Gets the Win

Jay picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Pflugerville Connally Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Matt Rios was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Anthony Gonzalez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Jay's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Pflugerville Connally, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jay will venture away from home to challenge Floresville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pflugerville Connally, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars face off against the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Navarro will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Pflugerville Connally surely won't give up without a fight.
