Volleyball Recap: Poinciana Has No Trouble Against Haines City

The Poinciana Eagles made easy work of the Haines City Hornets on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Poinciana's got stronger as the match went on, holding Haines City to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-10.

Carlos Marquez went supernova, getting 22 assists and six aces. Another player making a difference was Ernest Nunn, who had nine kills and four digs.

Marquez wasn't the only good server: Poinciana was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.

Poinciana pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Haines City, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. As for Haines City, they will venture away from home to challenge Winter Haven at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Haines City is facing Winter Haven at the right time seeing as Winter Haven is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
