Basketball Game Preview: Panguitch Bobcats vs. Escalante Moquis

Panguitch has gone a perfect 10-0 against Escalante recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panguitch Bobcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Escalante Moquis at 6:00 p.m. Panguitch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Panguitch beat Valley 48-36. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Buffalos: they've now won six in a row.

Panguitch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tayt Miller out in front who went 7-for-14 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Miller now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Mallory Henrie, who posted two points along with 15 rebounds and eight assists.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Escalante, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 45-34 victory over Vanguard Academy on Tuesday.

Escalante's win came from a few key players Panguitch will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sonata Griffin, who had 11 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Escalante pushed their record up to 10-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points over those games. As for Panguitch, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.

Everything came up roses for Panguitch against Escalante in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 56-14 win. In that contest, Panguitch amassed a halftime lead of 32-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
