Football Recap: Carson Skates Past Garfield with Ease

Carson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 40-7 win over the Garfield Bulldogs. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Chris Fields iii, who rushed for 148 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also threw for 146 yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Fields iii was just one part of a punishing run game: Carson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 195 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Carson is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.1 points on average over those games. As for Garfield, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Carson will challenge Crenshaw at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Colts 13, the Cougars 9) so any points scored will be well earned. Garfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
