Baseball Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish vs. Clinton Red Tornadoes

Bishop McGuinness and Clinton are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish are taking a road trip to take on the Clinton Red Tornadoes at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Clinton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bishop McGuinness, who comes in off a win.

Bishop McGuinness is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 12-6 margin over Perry on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Fighting Irish needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Braxton Brewer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Aiden Monigold, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Clinton lost 7-1 to Cache on Saturday. The Red Tornadoes haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bishop McGuinness, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Everything went Bishop McGuinness' way against Clinton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Bishop McGuinness made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop McGuinness since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
