Recap: IMG Academy Gray Ascenders vs. Downey Christian Patriots
The IMG Academy Gray Ascenders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 70-39 loss at the hands of Downey Christian. While losing is never fun, IMG Academy Gray can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while Downey Christian is ranked 146th).
Leading Downey Christian to victory were Maylon Marte and Chris Lopez. Marte scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Lopez scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lopez has scored all season. Patrick Olajuwon was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and six blocks.
IMG Academy Gray dropped their record down to 7-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Downey Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
IMG Academy Gray does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Downey Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
