Basketball Recap: Marion County Eagles vs. Taylor County Vikings
Marion County lost against Taylor County on January 4th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Marion County Eagles were dealt a 69-38 loss at the hands of the Taylor County Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Vikings are ranked 96th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sage Davis, who posted 15 points and five steals. Davis has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 22 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jamaya Crumbley, who scored four points and 14 boards.
Marion County's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7. As for Taylor County, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.
Marion County will head out to square off against Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Taylor County, they will challenge Macon County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Taylor County has won 21 straight at home dating back to last season, while Macon County won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
