Softball Game Preview: Avon Park Red Devils vs. Frostproof Bulldogs

Avon Park is 2-8 against Frostproof since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Red Devils will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Avon Park has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Avon Park's last matchup with LaBelle could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Red Devils came up short against the Cowboys/Cowgirls, falling 24-10. The Red Devils' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Skylar Hicks made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamya Brassell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Frostproof lost 12-6 to Lake Placid on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Dragons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Frostproof's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Avon Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Avon Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Frostproof when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
