Baseball Recap: River Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against United

River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the United Lions. One positive for the Panthers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Sammy Yanits was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Yanits is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Vresilovic, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Yanits wasn't the only one working in the home run department: River Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

River Valley's record now sits at 0-4. As for United, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley will welcome Greater Johnstown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Greater Johnstown has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something River Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for United, they will be playing at home against Ferndale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. United is facing Ferndale at the right time seeing as Ferndale is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
