Softball Game Preview: Woodstown Wolverines vs. Glassboro Bulldogs

Woodstown is a perfect 10-0 against Glassboro since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Wolverines will square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Woodstown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Woodstown got the win against Clayton by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Wolverines have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Leah Clark made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Aubrie Rennie was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Talia Guardascione, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Glassboro lost 19-8 to Pennsville Memorial on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Woodstown pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Glassboro, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Woodstown took their win against Glassboro in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 13-5 score. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
