Basketball Recap: Lincoln Southeast's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Lincoln Southeast fought the good fight in their overtime game against Lincoln Northeast on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 83-76 to the Lincoln Northeast Rockets. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (63), the Knights still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Lincoln Southeast lost, don't look at Mike Ngoyi. Despite the final result, he went 12 of 23 on his way to 29 points. The dominant performance also gave Ngoyi a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Chewy Thoat, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Lazerek Houston was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 19 on his way to 34 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists for Lincoln Northeast. That makes it six consecutive games in which Houston has scored at least a third of Lincoln Northeast's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Fredericks, who went 7 of 9 en route to 18 points and five rebounds.

Lincoln Southeast moved to 7-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Lincoln Northeast, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Lincoln Southeast and Lincoln Southwest will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lincoln Southwest has won four straight at home, while Lincoln Southeast won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Lincoln Northeast, they will host Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln Northeast's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
