Baseball Recap: Questa Comes Up Short

If Questa was riding high fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Mora on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats took a 17-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangers/Rangerettes on Monday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rangers/Rangerettes earlier this season, when they won 15-5.

Ricardo Leon Jr. was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Questa's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 2-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Santistevan, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Questa has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Mora, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.

Looking ahead, Questa will square off against Mesa Vista at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mora will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' matchup: after the Wildcats face off against the Trojans, they'll take on Mora again at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
