Softball Game Preview: Beachwood Bison vs. Independence Blue Devils

The Beachwood Bison will square off against the Independence Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Beachwood has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Beachwood couldn't beat Cuyahoga Heights on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Bison lost 17-4 to the Red Wolves. The Bison just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Beachwood saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allie Rindsberg, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Amaya Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Independence was not the first on the board two weeks ago, but they got there more often. They skirted past Canton Central Catholic 13-11. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Melina Rodriguez was a standout: she fired off three runs, three doubles, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Lila Manfredonia was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Independence's record now sits at 2-0. As for Beachwood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Beachwood suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Independence in their previous matchup back in May of 2019. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
