Volleyball Game Preview: Arleta Mustangs vs. Monroe Vikings

Arleta hasn't had much luck against Monroe recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Arleta Mustangs will square off against the Monroe Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Arleta came up short against Verdugo Hills on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Monroe unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to Chavez on Monday.

While Monroe was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Chavez's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.

Arleta's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Arleta came up short against Monroe when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Arleta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
