Volleyball Recap: Katie Rojas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gorton over Poughkeepsie

If Gorton was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lincoln on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolves lost 3-0 to the Poughkeepsie Pioneers on Wednesday. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Gorton was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-22, 25-20.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie Rojas, who had ten digs and four aces. Emma Ramirez was another key player, getting 16 digs and one assist.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gorton fell to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Gorton will host Greenburgh-North Castle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Poughkeepsie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
