Preview: Leake Central Gators vs. Kosciusko Whippets
Leake Central and Kosciusko are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Leake Central Gators will stay at home for another game and welcome the Kosciusko Whippets at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Leake Central is ranked 51st, while Kosciusko is ranked 73rd).
Last Saturday, Leake Central came up short against Morton and fell 55-47. The loss was Leake Central's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Kosciusko waltzed into Friday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 36-32 W over McAdams. That's two games straight that Kosciusko has won by exactly four points.
Kosciusko's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremi Wilkes led the charge by scoring 7 points along with 5 rebounds. Andrew Mancell was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
Leake Central's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Kosciusko, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Leake Central didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Kosciusko in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 48-43 win. Does Leake Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kosciusko turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
