Preview: Marblehead Magicians vs. Masconomet Regional Chieftains
After three games on the road, Marblehead is heading back home. They will take on the Masconomet Regional Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marblehead knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Masconomet Regional likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Marblehead gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They put the hurt on Danvers with a sharp 72-52 win. Given Marblehead's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Danvers is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Masconomet Regional, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-29 loss to Salem on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Masconomet Regional has scored all season.
Marblehead's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Masconomet Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Marblehead strolled past Masconomet Regional in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 71-55. Does Marblehead have another victory up their sleeve, or will Masconomet Regional turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
