Baseball Recap: Deltona Gets the Win

Deltona got themselves on the board against Taylor on Tuesday, but Taylor never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Deltona got a great performance from Mason Draper as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Draper also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Wolves are 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Deltona's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luis Rivera, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Noah Lochiatto, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Deltona is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Taylor, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.

Coming up, Deltona will take on Father Lopez at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Taylor, they will face off against Mainland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.23 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
