Softball Game Preview: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. Foothill Knights

Crean Lutheran is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Foothill a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Crean Lutheran Saints will host the Foothill Knights at 3:15 p.m. Crean Lutheran has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Crean Lutheran's offense. They came up short against Yorba Linda last Thursday, falling 19-0.

Meanwhile, Foothill narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Yorba Linda 6-4.

Capri Gallego spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makaela Martinez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Abigail Lawson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Foothill's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Crean Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.
