Basketball Recap: Mount Zion Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Mount Zion Christian Academy was the 83-79 winner over Winston Salem Christian when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winston Salem Christian Lions. The Mighty Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Mount Zion Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Jayden Adams, who went 11 for 21 en route to 28 points. That's the most points Adams has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Walker, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Mount Zion Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Mount Zion Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Winston Salem Christian, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5.

Mount Zion Christian Academy will welcome Word of God Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Zion Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 games -- so hopefully Word of God Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Winston Salem Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against Oak Ridge Military Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
