Basketball Recap: Richfield Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Richfield can now relate to. They fell just short of South Summit by a score of 56-53 on Monday. Richfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Summit apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.

Richfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katie Anderson, who went 7-for-13 on her way to 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Abbee Albrecht, who shot 55% from the field en route to 16 points and eight boards. The contest was Albrecht's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Crane, who posted five points and three steals.

Richfield's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for South Summit, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Richfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-47 loss against Juab on the 25th. As for South Summit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-37 defeat against Canyon View on the 25th.
