Basketball Recap: Mead Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Mead couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost to the Mullen Mustangs at home by a 44-30 margin on Thursday. The game marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Mead lost, don't look at Darby Haley. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-11 on her way to 16 points. That's the most points Haley has posted since back in January. Madi Clark was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Tatum Jones was the offensive standout of the matchup as she almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chloe Pelster, who earned 14 points.

With the loss, Mead broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-4. As for Mullen, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-9.

Mead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mullen, they have already played their next contest, a 56-42 win against Air Academy on the 15th.
