Football Recap: Northridge Comes Up Short

Northridge fell victim to Mead and their airtight defense on Friday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 48-0 to the Mavericks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Gavin Watada threw for 61 yards on six of 22 attempts. Alexander Irizarry was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

Mead's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Chapala, who rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Another player making a difference was Eli Davis, who picked up 129 receiving yards and one TD.

Northridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mead, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Northridge is set to face off against their familiar foe Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mead will take on rival Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Mavericks 6.5, the Wizards 4.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
