Basketball Recap: Adriel Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ponca City over Putnam City West

Ponca City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 78-52 to the Putnam City West Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Patriots are ranked 133rd).

Ponca City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adriel Miller, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was AJ Landes, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Ponca City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Putnam City West, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponca City will challenge Stillwater at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Putnam City West, they will take on Union at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Union's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
