Volleyball Recap: King Takes a Loss

King was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Norco Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

King was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 25-18.

Despite the loss, King saw an underclassman step up: freshman Clyde Zak had 21 digs and two assists. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Zak.

King's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Norco, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King will welcome Santiago at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Sharks will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Norco, they will host Roosevelt at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars are on a six-game streak of home wins, the Mustangs a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
