Softball Recap: Pikeville Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Pikeville faced off against Shelby Valley on Friday. The Panthers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-3. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Pikeville has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season. As for Shelby Valley, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14.

Shelby Valley has already played their next game (against Harlan County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pikeville will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' contest: after the Wildcats face off against the Black Bears, they'll take on Pikeville again at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
