Basketball Game Preview: Central Valley Cougars vs. Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack

The Central Valley Cougars will head out to face off against the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.

Central Valley is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Fullerton just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 49-47.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zevan Wolf, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and three blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Taesian Soto, who scored ten points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Elgin/Pope John was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Holt.

Elgin/Pope John's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Central Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Central Valley came up short against Elgin/Pope John in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 39-33. Can Central Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
