Softball Recap: Gretna's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Gretna took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Liberty, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Minutemen 4-2. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered an 11-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Alyssa Keesee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Keesee was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sophia Brooks was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Marihlyn East, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Gretna's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gretna beat the Minutemen by a score of 3-1 later that day.
