Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Halifax Trojans vs. North Edgecombe Warriors

The Southeast Halifax Trojans will square off against the North Edgecombe Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with 15 defeats in a row, Southeast Halifax turned things around against KIPP P on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pride 52-12. With the Trojans ahead 36-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Southeast Halifax's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keshiya Evans led the charge by putting up 12 points. The dominant performance gave Evans a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Niyla Pierce, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, North Edgecombe came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to the Jaguars for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-30 victory. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

North Edgecombe pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Southeast Halifax, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15.

Southeast Halifax might still be hurting after the 67-43 loss they got from North Edgecombe in their previous matchup back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Southeast Halifax was down 37-17.
