Basketball Recap: Vandalia Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Izzi Settle and Chase Buie

Vandalia Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Gospel Light Christian. Sadly, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-52 last Friday.

Vandalia Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Chase Buie and Izzi Settle. Buie posted 17 points and eight rebounds, while Settle scored 17 points and five assists. Buie is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Isaiah Davis was another key player, putting up six points.

Vandalia Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Gospel Light Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-8.

While Vandalia Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
