Basketball Recap: Jackson Day Extends Winning Streak to Four

Jackson Day won the last time they faced Langtree Charter Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mariners secured an 81-76 W over the Lions. While the Mariners didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jackson Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarrett Ross, who posted 12 points and six boards. Ross is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Elijah Davis, Jr was another key player, going 6-for-8 on his way to 12 points.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerel Brawley, who scored 27 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arbrey Hoyle, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards.

The win keeps Jackson Day at an undefeated 4-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 37.2 points thus far. As for Langtree Charter Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson Day will take on Arborbrook Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mariners will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Langtree Charter Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Norman Christian on December 5.
