Preview: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Woodland Wolves

The Mesa Verde Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Woodland Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mesa Verde is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses.

Mesa Verde suffered their biggest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 66-34 defeat at the hands of Rio Linda. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mesa Verde in their matchups with Rio Linda: they've now lost three in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Roman Weddle, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Dauphine, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Woodland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Casa Roble at home and fell 90-58. Woodland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-26.

Mesa Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Woodland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Mesa Verde came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodland when the teams last played on January 2nd, sneaking past 62-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mesa Verde since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
