Volleyball Recap: Ella Cutter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monomoy over Sturgis East

If Monomoy was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Rising Tide on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sharks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sturgis East Storm on Friday. The Sharks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Storm earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-12, 17-25, 25-12.

Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ella Cutter, who had 29 assists and five digs. Jane Pillsbury was another key player, getting 11 digs and five kills.

Monomoy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Sturgis East, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Monomoy will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Nantucket at 4:00 p.m. As for Sturgis East, they will venture away from home to face off against Mashpee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
