Baseball Game Preview: Castaic Coyotes vs. Lancaster Eagles

The Castaic Coyotes will face off against the Lancaster Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Castaic's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Lancaster's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Castaic is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Saugus just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Centurions by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Coyotes have suffered since March 29th.

Andrew Bond was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Castaic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jr Yera, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lancaster made easy work of Antelope Valley on Friday and carried off a 16-1 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Castaic's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Lancaster, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-14.

Castaic beat Lancaster 9-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
