Estill County is a perfect 10-0 against Lee County since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Engineers will square off against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Estill County will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Wolfe County on Tuesday. The Engineers put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 18-9 win. The Engineers haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Spencer Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Young was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Estill County let Brooklyn Ferrell and Peyton Henderson run wild. Ferrell went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Henderson went 4-for-5 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Henderson a new career-high. Bella Rice also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Estill County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wolfe County only posted a batting average of .344.
Lee County came out on top against Owsley County on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Bobcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Owls / Lady Owls a 13-0 shutout.
Preslee Cundiff was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 18 over six innings pitched. Cundiff was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two triples, and two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Emileigh Warner was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hollie Chrisman, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lee County's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-10. As for Estill County, their record now sits at 15-8.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Estill County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Lee County struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Estill County's way against Lee County when the teams last played back in April, as Estill County made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Engineers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
