Baseball Recap: Kent-Meridian Takes a Loss

Kent-Meridian extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-17. They lost 25-0 to the Decatur Golden Gators. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Monday.

As for Decatur, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The result was nothing new for the Golden Gators, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Decatur's part, Dylan Reano and Landon Le made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Reano tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Le pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reano has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Reano got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Le got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave Le a new career-high.

In other batting news, Aiden Reeves was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. Those eight RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Flavel, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Kent-Meridian will host Rainier Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.94 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Decatur, they will head out to challenge Tahoma at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
