Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Bears vs. Central Wildcats

For the second straight game, Catholic will face off against Central. Catholic will look to defend their home field on Friday against Central at 3:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Catholic 2.2, Central 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Central will be up against a hot Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Catholic's pitchers stepped up to hand Central a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Bears have won 11 matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Catholic got a great performance from Mills Richardson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Richardson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Noah Lewis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Ruckert, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Catholic pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Central, they moved to 19-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
