Recap: Washington County Tigers vs. Wakefield Bombers

The Washington County Tigers won the last time they faced the Wakefield Bombers, and things went their way on Friday too. Washington County simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wakefield 67-9 at home. Given Washington County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Wakefield is ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Wakefield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Eli Ponton. Despite the final result, he scored four points along with seven rebounds. Ponton scored a full 44.4% of Wakefield's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory makes it two in a row for Washington County and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Wakefield, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Blue Valley on December 9th. Wakefield won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pike Valley at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Pike Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday.
