Basketball Recap: Ethan Balke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Andover Central over Maize South

Andover Central was the 59-53 winner over Maize South when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Andover Central Jaguars fell 57-49 to the Maize South Mavericks on Friday. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Andover Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ethan Balke, who posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave Balke a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Brandt Stupka, who earned nine points.

Andover Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Maize South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season.

Andover Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-51 win against Dodge City on the 25th. Maize South has also already played their next game, a 47-40 victory against Bishop Carroll on the 25th.
