Baseball Recap: Tracy Takes a Loss

Tracy extended their losing streak to 12 on Saturday, dropping them down to 5-16. They lost 11-0 to the Monte Vista Mustangs. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

Tracy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan Godoy, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Monte Vista, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Monte Vista's side, they gave Cameron Cocagne the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Cocagne has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Monte Vista got a big performance out of Calen Temple, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Temple a new career-high. Carter Spatz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Tracy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-3 loss against Kimball on the 20th. As for Monte Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-0 win against Livermore on the 23rd.
