Baseball Recap: Highland Park's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Highland Park dropped their record down to 11-3-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mundelein Mustangs by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Giants of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Mundelein, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3-2. Eight seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Mundelein's part, Logan Young looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Young posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Caden Earing was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Erick Fletcher, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Highland Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
