Basketball Recap: Laurel Highlands Comes Up Short

If Laurel Highlands was feeling good fresh off their 78-44 takedown of Waynesburg Central last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Laurel Highlands Mustangs fell to the McKeesport Tigers 63-58. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 80-67 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Laurel Highlands dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for McKeesport, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Laurel Highlands will be home for the holidays to greet Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel Highlands knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Gateway likes a good challenge. As for McKeesport, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the McKeesport Tigers duke it out with the Franklin Regional Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in McKeesport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
