League recap: Towner-Granville-Upham tops Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central to extend winning streak

9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) recap September 17, 2013

Towner-Granville-Upham added to the longest winning streak in 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) this week by beating Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central, 41-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

St. John took down Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood 55-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kiefer Langan threw for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 51 yards during the win.

Jarret Obenchain made the biggest impact on defense this week as Divide County topped Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn. The 5-foot-11 junior racked up 2.0 sacks.

Isaac Jacobs provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Maroons topped the Sioux. He completed 7 passes for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 155 yards. Jacobs' favorite target this week was Will Landsverk, who caught 4 passes for 80 yards.

Jacobs was the best running back in the league this week. Taylor Elsbemd also contributed to the rushing game with 21 yards on the ground.

Landsverk was the best wideout in the league this week as Divide County bested Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn. Drake Babineaux helped Divide County's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 44 yards.

Langan put up the best numbers through the air as the Woodchucks beat the Mavericks. Langan's favorite target this week was Joe Mickelson, who caught 2 passes for 57 yards.

Towner-Granville-Upham's Eli Luna and Colter Thorp have formed a dream team this season, leading 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Luna has thrown for 665 yards this season, while Thorp has 8 catches for 260 yards. Darin McClintock from Drake/Anamoose leads the league in rushing with 549 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Towner-Granville-Upham takes on second place St. John. Last week, Scott Thorson's team bested the Honkers, while St. John beat Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood.

The Titans' offense has racked up 213 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Cory Davis' team has allowed only 28 on the year.

The league will see a high scoring game when Towner-Granville-Upham and the Woodchucks face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Titans comes in having scored 213 this season, while St. John has scored 198. Towner-Granville-Upham scored 41 points last week as it defeated Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central.
