Baseball Game Preview: Brackenridge Eagles vs. Seguin Matadors

The Brackenridge Eagles will square off against the Seguin Matadors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Brackenridge can't be too worried about heading out to take on Seguin: they just beat Burbank at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Eagles never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brackenridge's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Monroy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Seguin came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Mustangs. The Matadors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.

Seguin pushed their record up to 13-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Brackenridge, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Brackenridge suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Seguin when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
