Baseball Recap: San Leandro Takes a Loss

San Leandro lost against Arroyo back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pirates fell just short of the Dons by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pirates have suffered against the Dons since April 12, 2019.

San Leandro got a good showing from Ky Lenn Smith, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayson Grady and Stanley Acevedo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Grady went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Acevedo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

San Leandro's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Arroyo, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

As of now, neither San Leandro nor Arroyo have any future games scheduled.
