Softball Recap: Boardman Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Boardman came tearing into Thursday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ava Freeborough was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Rivera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Boardman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Boardman pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal Mooney, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Boardman will face off against Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Golden Gales have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Cardinal Mooney, they will be playing at home against Chaney at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
