Volleyball Recap: Merrill Takes a Loss

Merrill came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Mosinee Indians, falling 3-0. The Bluejays haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Brooklyn Harding paced Merrill's offense, picking up six kills. Harding got some help from Kaela Clerveaux and her 15 assists. Kendell Klug controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mosinee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taelyn Jirschele, who had 15 digs and five assists. That's the most assists Jirschele has posted since back in September. Kyndal Schlei was another key player, getting six aces and three digs.

Merrill's defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Mosinee, they are on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 23 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-3 record this season.

Merrill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Lakeland on the 11th. As for Mosinee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Medford on the 11th.
